About me…

kate-freeman-full-sizeWho is Kate? 70’s Flower Child, Gas Station Attendant, Veterinarian’s Assistant, Professional Landscaper, Retail Store Clerk and Manager, Navy Petty Officer, Government Contractor, DoD Civilian, Organization Development Consultant, Full-time Care Giver, Former Drug Addict, Peace Corps Volunteer, single/married/divorced/ married/single, Vegan, Pacifist, Liberal, Realistic-Idealist, Idealistic-Realist, Tree Hugger, Reiki Practitioner, Sound Massage Practitioner, Meditator, Meditation and Dharma Teacher, Facilitator, and Gadabout.

In 2014 I retired from Federal Government and moved to the beautiful town of Asheville, NC where I established my business, Spa de la Paz. I offer Sound Massage, Tibetan Bowl Meditation & Concerts, Reiki, and Vipassana (Insight Meditation). I volunteer with hospice and live with my African Village Dog Paz, and my little Buddha Baby cat.

I believe that authenticity comes from allowing ourselves to be vulnerable with one another. In my life I’ve discovered that when I’m vulnerable and unafraid to be who I really am, I find that I’m really no different from anyone else. We all have stuff – just different stuff – and we all just want to be happy. Drawing on over 25 years of meditation practice, studies, and life lessons from gadding about, I help others who are on their path – any path – to finding that happiness through deep relaxation techniques and mindfulness. You will find me at Asheville Insight Meditation and various venues around Asheville.

Thanks, Kate! I just approved your blog claim. Now your Urbanspoon profile picture is displayed on your blog page. You can upload a blog-specific photo if you prefer, and can change a few other blog settings there. Also, if you vote for a restaurant that you’ve reviewed on your blog, we now show your vote next to your post everywhere on our site.

Nice to meet you too, Kate! I love how open you are in your writing. I love that walking the Camino is a goal of yours; I once walked about 16km of it and it’s a dream to do the whole thing. Hope to see you around 🙂

    Hi Kate –
I’m working with a start-up for food bloggers in Maryland called Tabelog (www.tabelog.us). They’re a subsidiary of the largest company in Japan Tabelog.com (similar to Yelp here in the US).
We’re bringing their annual restaurant awards to the US that are judged solely by a panel of local food bloggers (all online). The winning restaurants get a framed 2015 award and the food bloggers get an ‘official judge’ icons/etc. and related PR for their blog. We’re looking for bloggers from the Maryland area to invite as an official judge. Is this something that you would be interested in?
    Thanks in advance!
