I’ve been planning all week to blog today. The big work project I was working on was completed (first major milestone of a larger effort) on Thursday. I’ve spent the past few days enjoying the accomplishment and falling into Fall.
Last Sunday evening I was visited by some dear friends who I haven’t seen in 13 or more years. The last time they saw me I looked something like this… And here we are today! I was bummed that I had to go into work Monday morning. We had a delightful visit and having just one evening was better than no evening at all. I love the kind of friends who, no matter how much time passes by or how many changes in our lives, we pick up the conversation like we just saw one another last week.
Friday was a great day to move my body and get some of the kinks out from too much sitting at the laptop. I took a nice long walk over to the reservoir. It was the perfect morning for a long walk; overcast and whose leaves were starting to change. There were a lot of people walking, running, and riding bikes around the reservoir and it felt good to be out with people who were starting their mornings refreshed and revitalized. I passed this guy on my walk:
After a little over 4 miles I stopped by the house to pick up Paz. His allergies are acting up so it’s not the best time of year for him to walk but I knew how badly he wanted to go with me when I left the house the first time. We passed this sign as we were walking down the street and I think this will be a hoot!
It’s been a great weekend. The problem is, all week long I’ve come up with great ideas for writing but I was so exhausted at the end of each work day that I kept thinking I would write today. Today has come and is almost gone and all those streams of consciousness I was riding have disappeared. Gone. So this is all you get today.
Tomorrow is September 30th and if you remember, my intention was to document my journey from July 1 – September 30th. During that time I also wanted to release some weight and get a handle on some health issues. It’s been a great summer and while I may not have reached all of my goals, I’m very pleased with what I did achieve. And I will be writing about that this week. I have decided to stick with the blog and I have some ideas regarding where I want to take it and my commitment to the frequency of writing. All of that will be revealed very soon.
For now, I leave you with this quote, “Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead let life live through you. And do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?”
